Infuriated as I was on hearing their talk of the TD, this is what I sent
them...

I am flabberghasted at your denigration of the venerable MGTD. I bought mine
in 1959 at the age of 17, and have been driving it ever since. In college, I
drove it back and forth from Connecticut to Pittsburg, even in the winter
snows on the PA Turnpike. It rested outside under a tarp for 30 years, and then

we finally restored it to show condition about ten years ago. There is
nothing more fun than driving that car. Put the top down, fold the windshield
on
the bonnet and set off through the Litchfield Hills at a brisk rate of
speed. Like I said, nothing compares, and I have a Jaguar mark V, a Bentley
Turbo
R, a Rolls Spur and a WWII army Jeep tp play with as well. That said,
nothing beats the TD. It handles better than a TC, it's quicker than a TF,
it's
prettier than just about any other sports car except maybe an SS-100. It gets
looks and waves wherever I drive it. Tell that poor girl to take one out
for a drive, and forget that nonsense about an MGB or a Miata.
