Check the bosses where the cluster gears main shaft fits in the case. When I 
lost a cluster gear (one of Moss's new manufactured type made about 1975)
ten years ago, the bosses of the case cracked where the layshaft resides. I had 
to use a new (different) case in my last rebuild.
