As you can see I have now made it to the front of the car in the
reassembly process and have a couple of questions re the rubber strips
that the hood sits on.
The lacing that weaves its way round the radiator shell is in two parts
and comes out the last hole on the top an inch or so from the centre of
the shell. Question one is do I just glue it in place before it gets to
the indent that the little chrome support for top hood hinge sits in, or
tuck it underneath said hinge support and pass the bolts through the
rubber? Or perhaps sandwich it between the inner and outer hinge
supports?
Similarly at the rear there is a rubber strip that is tacked to the
wooden firewall strip which has another little chrome support that the
top hood hinge strip sits in. Do I screw the hinge support through the
rubber - or fix it straight to the wood and stop the rubber at either
side? Or perhaps cut a bit out of the rubber but leave the outer bead
continuous?
Thanks
Douglas
