To solve most charging problems, you need to get a decent mutil-meter.
With the engine off, battery voltage should be around 13.2V
With the engine running and no accessories running, voltage should be ~14.5V

What I do, if I suspect a bad battery is either take battery voltage over
a certain time period (say 2 days). A good battery should hold 13.2V,if
the voltage drops, start suspecting the battery (this is assuming that you 
have disconnected the battery and there is no current drain)

Otherwise test the battery with a load. Turn the engine over for say 30
seconds (ignition disabled). The voltage should not drop below ~9.0V and
then should return to ~13.0v after you stop turning the engine.


Alternatively, take your battery to shop and ask them to test it.
