"The parts falling off this car..."

I bought a set of new hub caps for the MGB from Moss, and they look great.
Trouble is, they fall off.  I tried spreading the prongs, and was surprised 
that the "spring steel" spread so easily.  In fact, I noticed when putting 
them back on that they were bending back in.  What gives?

I'm thinking of trying to bend the prongs out from the back of the wheel 
after installing them, or perhaps mechanically attaching them from the 
back.  What'cha think?  It's really annoying to be tooling down the road 
and hear that "ching, ting, ting" as one rolls down the pavement.

But boy, they look good.
