Still wondering?

The drain plug is on the bottom, the earlier D-type overdrive has its
own drain plug even though it shares the oil with the gearbox, the
casing is marked 'DRAIN' by the plug. The later LH-type does not have
its own drain plug.

The fill point is on the top up to about 1974, and accessed via a rubber
plug on the transmission hump on the RHS behind the console. If you
feel down there you will find a dipstick with a metal loop handle. Very
arkward refilling. Later cars have a filler/level plug on the RHS of
the transmission casing.

The capacity is 4.5 pints (5.6 US) without overdrive, 5.5 pints (6.0 US)
with overdrive.

You haven't asked what to fill it with - the manufacturer always
specified engine oil (grade dependant on local climatic conditions,
typically 20W/50), but you will get as many different opinions
on wonder fluids as there are fluids. You shouldn't use very slippy
fluids as they prevent the synchromesh working as it should which can
cause wear elsewhere/

Cheers, PaulH.
