        I've done it both ways and either will work.  The really hot set-up is
left hand drive drill bits.  These are not as cheap as "regular" bits
but work very well.  Usually as the point gets to open air, it grabs and
turns the stud right out.
        Replacement break-off studs (for want of the real title) are available
at all the big name parts vendors.
