SU used BSF & BSP until about 1950, then standardised on the American
based UNF ( ANF,) and UNC (ANC.) The XPAG is full of very old METRIC
threads, due to MORRIS buying up the French HOTCHKISS factory in the UK,
who actually made GUNS for WW1, ( England 1, Germany nil.) The threads
are nearly all unique, and the term 'MAD METRIC' a good one!!!!

The tappet chest is 6mm thread on a 1mm pitch. This is almost the same
as the current ISO metric used today. You can still buy these over the
counter, and also the nuts. It is not uncommon to find people have
fitted longer studs, using nuts and fibre washers.

"Mad Metrics" on UK 01932 243534 stocks the 'soft' alloy nuts, as do
Moss and NGT.
