Just when I thought the day couldn't get any worse!

The details: 77 MGB, with early 18G head. 8.7:1 C.R. pistons. Noticed on
my way out tonite, a slightly rough running motor, running hotter than
standard on the temp gauge, and a slight smell of coolant. Upon heading for
home, the smell of coolant was very strong, steam from the exhaust, and the
temp gauge reading "H". No signs of coolant in the oil.

I know this sounds like a blown head gasket. Some tell tale whitish stains
between #'s 2 & 3 on the head. Now the question. I had the head rebuilt in
the off season. New head gasket installed. I have run the car about 2500
miles or so since the initial torquing of the head, and realize I am past
due on re-torquing. So, is it likely at this point that a re-torque will
cure my problem, or am I looking at re-surfacing the head(for flatness) and
replacing the head gasket?

Regards,

Chris Delling
