I just ran across an early MGA gearbox which was offered for a very
reasonable price. This is the one with the 1" 10-spline output shaft and
external rear seal. It is out of the car, fairly clean looking,
appearantly fully functional but no guarantee, and of course I would never
put a bet on the condition of a second gear synchronizer.

Story is that this 1957 MGA had been off the road since 1968 for body
restoration work, taken over and finished recenty by a new owner who
installed an 1800 engine and overdrive gearbox. I just bought the 1500
engine, which incidentally looks like very low mileage since a 0.040"
overbore and new pistons. I would buy that gearbox in a flash if I didn't
already have enough.

This gearbox is located in a western suburb of Chicago. The owner is
internet challenged, so anyone interrested can drop me a private message
and I'll get you in touch by land line.
