Good catch. It has occurred to me that it's not overly paranoid as a
maintenance practice to crawl under the car every month or so just to
check for loose fasteners. I've found the nuts holding the front lower
spring pan bolts less than finger tight, as well as the shock bolts and
spring shackles. And don't forget the knock-offs!

Cheerio had this to say:

>I have had noise that sounded like metal slapping at right rear when I went
>over bumps for about a month. I checked springs and "u" bolts awhile back
>couldn't seem to find source. Couldn't make it reproduce noise by bouncing
>fender. Finally pulled wheel and climbed under car tonight. Tightened shock
>mount to body just a little-Noise is now gone. I had installed the rebuilt
>shocks about 2 years ago. Guess the speed bumps in the hood had finally
>loosened them just enough to slap the inside of the fender.
>Get to know your car and its noises.

Runs great,
looks particularly bad since some SUV clown backed into it.
If you're near Mountain View, CA,
it's the red one with the silver bootlid.
