The answer is Yes.  A 1275 or a 1098 will fit.  The only exterior differences
are the tappet covers and the number 1098 cast into the outside of the block.
(Oh yeah, and maybe a hole for a mechanical fuel pump on the 1098).

I belive the 1098 came in in 1964, with disk brakes.

To install the 1275, you will need to add an electric fuel pump.  My 
suggestion is mount it near the fuel tank so it is easier for it to get primed.
