Ok, let's clear something up. Someone at the NJ LBC car show this past 
weekend at Atsion Park mentioned to me that if one uses shorter spacers and 
replaces the studs, then for heat reasons the carb is too close to the 
manifold.

1) is that accurate?

While salivatating amongst the absolutely stupendous MGA's (and A-H's!) and 
the V-6 and V-8 MGB's, someone else suggested using the thin K&N filters 
with a paper filter that had been cut in half. (I think that was David D.)

Could Steve and I have your learned opinion as to which way to go?

Frankly, cutting a paper filter or even an oil filter and making a shorter 
spacer is far simpler to me than any other solution.
