If this is a new SU pump mine came with a slip of parer saying to clean the
contacts if it didn't work out of the box before taking it back as faulty -
the contacts can oxydise if left on the shelf for a long time.  It should
click very rapidly if hooked up with no fuel supply, given the slip of paper
with mine I did this as soon as I bought it which was some time before I
fitted it.
