Dave,

If your batteries are hooked up the same as those on my 72 B, about the only
other place you could hook up a charger would be on the starter terminal
that connects directly to the battery (Pos).  The negative could be hooked
to the frame or engine.  That's not much easier than removing the cover
with the top up, but might be easier with the top down (which it should be
anyway).
