The fact that a company produces a supercar or not
does not mean anything to me personally, as a sales
tool... What I would be concerned about, however, is
whether Rover would have the $$$ (or pounds (hey, I
don't have one of those pound squigglies on my
keyboard!)) to both develop a credible supercar (good
point raised on the XJ220 earlier and it's teething
problems and use of an engine that you couldn't buy in
a regular Jaguar) AND a replacement for the MGF that
would be available in the US. As has been mentioned
earlier, why would they go to the trouble to develop a
supercar and NOT come back to their biggest market?
Knowing the problems that led BMW to jettison Rover in
the first place (i.e., lack of sales) I would rather
have them focus on getting an MG back in the US market
- and an MG sports car, perhaps followed by an MG
sports sedan (which could be a rebadged Rover 75 as I
happen to like that one).

Just my 2 pence.
