The interstate portion of the highways is great, it is the portions that
are within cities that are the problem. Traffic density too great, 
constant lane shifting for entrance and exit, and often curves with small
radius in order to fit around all of the previous development.

In a city like Chicago, the normal 3-digit city bypass isn't an option
for through traffic, because there is a lake in the way. One could
perhaps go around the long way to the south and west...

One disadvatage of group travel in MG clubs is the lack of sociability.
Stick 'em all on a ferry and everyone can talk together and evangelize 
the other ferry passengers.
