Just had to share the feelings of sadness over the passing of a fellow
motoring enthusiast.

We lost a race official/marshal at the F1 in Melbourne today.

I work at lots of the big events and generally us officials are all one
big happy family when we throw the white overalls on - most of the guys
travel from State to State to do these big events. I missed travelling
up to work on the F1 Grand Prix because I had too much work to do
prepping my car for my next race, but many of the guys will be back down
here in Adelaide for a major V8 Supercar event we hold here in April (
http://www.clipsal500.com.au ).

One will be missing.

Yes, we all sign our disclaimers and we all know that "Motorsport is
dangerous", but with so few deaths happening on/around the track here
(although there have been a few lately) we don't think about it too
much.

I was pleased that the drivers really showed some genuine emotion over
this loss of one of the 'unpaid workers' in a very highly paid sport.

So, for those of you who get out to the track...

To the drivers - please say thank you to a marshal and remember that
your event wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for their volunteer
efforts. They do it for the love of cars and motorsport - just like you
do..

To the Drivers and Marshals/officials, take care guys.
