In Nanaimo today a gentleman named David O. Saville Peck (some may recall him
from the Can Am series) launched an attempt on the World Land Speed Record
for driving a car backwards. I am not kidding. The attempt was to be made on
the
airport runway at Cassidy Airport AKA Nanaimo Municipal Airport and was to be
timed by the local RCMP contingent. The vehicle was to be a motorcycle
engined Lotus 7 (Caterham) knock off that DOSP manufactures in his Ladysmith BC
shop. The gearbox is apparently installed so as to give 6 speeds in reverse.
