On older MGs designed for Britians temperate climate the cooling system is marginal for may areas of the US. Thus the real opperating temperature is that shown during the cooler days. On real hot days the engine is actually running warmer than the thermostat is set for as the radiator can't handle the heat. With the new cars the radiator and cooling system can handle the heat of the summer better. Thus there is less fluctation from summer to winter. Regards, Blake |
