Max, mea culpa. I should have told that I'm subscribed to more than one list
and mixed up the MG and the Healey overdrive. In Austin-Healeys the overdrive
can remain activated with the driver operated switch set to off.

Oh, that is different than what I was describing. My light just indicates
whether the (driver-operated) switch is set to "on". Trivally simple, and
just as effective, I would think -- under what circumstances would the OD
remain engaged with the switch set to "off" ?
