Once upon a time, long before I met her, my wife drove a
battered 1958 Chevrolet pickup around the Ozark Mountains.

She loved that truck. She still tells stories about it.
Heck, she's written *songs* about it.

I would like to get her a toy or model of her old truck, if I can.
But I don't know the exact model, so more research is necessary.

Here's what I know, or think I know, about the vehicle:

  It's a "half-ton" pickup.
  It's a 1958 Chevy model.
It had pairs of headlights on each side.
  It was painted primer gray.

I have nosed around some Web sites, where I have found some
good pictures of various '58s, and also learned about the
good people on this mailing list. I hope you can give me a
little advice.

My first job is to identify the truck. I can show pictures
to my wife's brother, and get him to make a positive ID
(maybe I've been watching too many detective shows).

I have learned that most trucks were either "stepsides" or
"fleetsides." I believe my wife's truck was a stepside, but
I'll check. Some questions:

1. I think that in 1958 there was still a Cameo model, but I
haven't found a picture of one. Can you help me find one?

2. Did the beds of half-ton Chevys come in more than one length?

My second job is to locate a toy or model of the appropriate truck.
Scale isn't too important, but I'd like something bigger than Hot
Wheels or Matchbox if possible... 1/25 or 1/32 would be nice. I
imagine this is a common sort of question here. I'll probably come
back once I'm sure what I'm looking for.
