Hi.....
You must be sure what it is you've got before you try to put it together:

Mark IV cylinder heads, made by Chevrolet, will not interchange to a stock,
production Gen. V HO 502 Chevrolet block. There will be water leak into the
lifter valley because of a mismatch of water jacket core holes. Likewise, stock
production Gen. V cylinder heads, made by Chevrolet, will not interchange onto
Mark IV block cases for the same reson. There is one exception. You can put
Mark IV cylinder heads on a Gen. V "Bowtie" block because the Gen. V "Bowtie"
cases have smaller water jacket holes in the deck and will not leak when you
use a Mark IV head. Some aluminum "Bowtie" heads, introduced in '96, will work
with any type of Chevrolet block. Stock head gaskets will not interchange
between Mark IV and Gen. V stock production blocks.

If you have the casting numbers, you can send them to me, and I'll check them
out, and tell you what it is you've got there.

:Hi to all,
:
:Some one offers me a 502 Cui engine out off a firetruck and now I would like
:to know if there are parts of the 502 that will fit my 454 engine.
:Do any of you know if the heads from the 502 will fit the 454, I use LPG as
:fuel for the 454 and from this fuel the valves don't last long, I have to
:rebuild the heads allmost every year, so it will be nice to have spare
:heads.
:
:Greetings,
:Peter Volwerk.
