You can buy a brand new Mr. Goodwrench 350 for about $1200 from a 
variety of venders thru any stock car racing/ hot rod magazine. It 
comes complete except the intake manifold, distributor and 
carburetor... Also you have to pick up a starter, water pump, 
alternator and power steering pump as accessories... as well as 
exhaust manifolds... The nice thing about it is you can throw in a 
cam and get a real performer for about another $150... Sometimes its 
better to buy a complete running cheap car and get all the 
accessories in the package ... Rebuild it  and still be ahead of the 
game. But there are ghosts to this scenario unless you do it on a 
regular basis as there are a lot of things to learn.. However it can 
be fun too. Good luck
