One very cheap trick we've used for years is putting aluminum foil behind
the bulbs, shiney side out of course, which helps reflect whatever limited
candle power you do have in the right direction.
I just recently used a more "high tech" approach of the same principle by
putting a cd rom behind the bulb, again obviously shiney side out. I used a
taper reamer to enlarge the hole in the center so the bulb base would slip
thru, and trimmed the outter shape to fit inside the light housing with
aviation snips. It appears to reflect as well of not better then foil and
it shouldn't tarnish or lose it's reflectability as foil does over time.
I would personally recommend using all the "rap" music cd's you can find
for this purpose : )
