Three speed transmissions have two shift arms on the side, one for
reverse/first
and one for second/third. Four speed transmissions either have the shift
lever
sticking out of the top or three shift arms on the side, one for reverse,
one
for 1st/2nd and one for 3rd/4th.

Wondering if anyone could tell what the following tranny is based on the
casting number.
GM 4 - 3845122
I think this one came out of '59 GMC truck, but I am not sure if it is a 3
or 4 speed.

Thanks,

Antonio.
