Smokey, you have Huck brakes, similar to my '48 1/2 ton.  Remove the 4 bolts 
that hold the backing plate to the spindle, as they also hold the shoes to a 
"horse shoe" shaped bracket.  Once that is off, you can remove the clips 
(carefully) and remove the shoes.
