The cowboy engineering way is to take the truck in neutral and disconnect
the positive terminal after its running.  If the engine dies you are not
charging.  if the engine runs you are charging.  One at a time turn on
lights, radio, wipers, blower if it keeps running you are charging real
good.  It it dies after a cretin number of item are turn on figure 10 amp
per item and that a guess as what the charging amp are.
