There was a thread concerning this  fender seam at Stovebolt BB.  It seams :)
this showed up on some pass side fenders in '53 and later in 53 the drivers side
also. I recently bought a pre '54 fender at a swapmeet with this seam. There was
some speculation about suppliers in '53, but no definitive consensus about how
this came to be. This would be good question for Bob Adler, if he was still on
the list.
