I have a 1983 Yamaha 1200 Venture that sat for 4+ years and based on that
information alone the local dealer said, "It may not be worth fixing."
(It has now been sitting 6 years) That is why I purchased my '99 HD
Sportster. At least it is worth something down the road unlike most Rice
Burners. Rice Burners may have great technology, but you can feel the
value drop when you drive off the dealers lot. For now I am leaning toward
good old American for both my cars and motorcycles.

hehehe, it's funny to make fun of rice rockets, 'cept when you know that
the engineering in those things is pretty amazing and makes any american
motorcycle look like the 1940's technology it still is.... my '00 Yamaha
R1 does a quater mile in the very low 10's fresh of the showroom
floor. Change the gearing and adjust the suspension and you will go into
the 9's... Wheelies in 1 and 2nd without the clutch! 5
valves/cylinder, hollow cams, nickasil coated cylinder bores.. etc.. Don't
get me wrong I love the old stuff when it comes to cars, the *newest* car
I own is a '62 Deuce and a Quarter, but when it comes to modern, kick your
ass technology you just can't beat a rice rocket without spending lots and
lots of money.
