The passenger side exhaust manifold on my 265 V8 is leaking badly around
what
appears to be a 1" X 3" sheet metal cover on the side of the manifold facing
the valve cover. Do I need to pull the manifold to repair this? Does
anyone
know why there is a covered port there? I cannot imagine any reason for it.

   Hey Dennis,

I wonder if the one of the previous owners tried to seal a crack this way?
I happen to have a '55 265 in my Dads shop, it's from a car though...anyway,
i'll take a look at it tomorrow and see if it has what you describe.
