[oletrucks] '46 front axle

I think this may have been asked before but....which way do the wedges go 
between axle and leaves ??? thick part front or rear??? another way to ask 
this is ... does the locating hole on the axle associated with the spring 
wedges go to the front or back when reassembling vehicle after a 2 year delay 
on above mentioned project.thanks in advance for your
