Gary,  I had a similar prob with my generator set up and it was the 
regulator.  I was able to order one thru Farm and Fleet for $22.00, that's 
cheaper than I've found anywhere.  I priced them other places from $35 - $85. 
 It is a "Wells" and corrected my problem.
