I guess this topic slipped by me so I'm kind of in the dark as to the year
of truck etc.,
A quick note on the slamming door syndrome.
If you can grasp the door at the bottom and top with it fully open and by
prying up and down feel the door moving with play at the hinge pins stop and
repair the hinges before going on it's a waste of time.
You have to remember that part of the adjustment is the ability of the door
to be adjusted in or out from the top or bottom.....Meaning you can have a
door that's hitting at the top of the frame to the cab way before the bottom
comes in contact with the jam and cause the door to need to be slammed to
keep it closed. I normally remove the door latch to jam striker and then
close the door to see if this is happening and then adjust accordingly.
On some doors I've found it necessary to add washers between the striker and
door jam before installation to get the striker to contact the latch better.
You can also rotate the striker low and at an angle so when the latch
contacts the striker it's sucking the door inward toward the jam and sooner
to provide a better latch.
