Gary, you'll have to give us "flatland furriners" a little slack. If it's not
John Deere, IH, Ford, or Cletrac, I probably have never heard of it. But in
1950, I lived in the boonies: Alsea Oregon. VEERRY little town. Actually, we
lived 3-4 miles out of town. But then, you've probably never heard of Lobster
Valley Oregon, have you?! One of our neighbors had a fairly new Chevy 1 1/2
ton truck. He took me over with him when he went to borrow my uncle's Cletrac
crawler tractor. It was a slow trip back. That Chevy with it's 6 cylinder
engine did not want to haul that tractor. When I told my uncle, he just
laughed. "That's what you get when you try to haul a 6 and a half ton tractor
with a 1 1/2 ton truck!". And that truck was all the way down to the bottom of
the springs. Bob K in PHX
oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959
