I checked into the 700 r4 transmission awhile ago for a different project. Two
different transmission shops here in PHX AZ told me they towed race cars
during the week ends with a 700 R4 with improvements . These are full size
cars. One of the shops tows up to TWO cars. So I suspect that the 700 would be
adequate for you. I'd like to hear from anyone who has switched to this
transmission, as when I get a rig, the 700 R4 is what I plan on using,
preferrably with a slightly modified 302 six. By the way-for the gent who
