First off, thanks for all the suggestions. Second, I ended up making the
linkage piece I had asked about. Worked out great.
Still not sure about the bubbles, but am on my way to get a thermostat and see
what happens. I'll let the list know. Other than that, the truck is running,
the tranny I got a couple of years ago to replace the one that jumped out of
third, seems to be in ok shape. Never bothered to swap it out as I had just
gotten used to keeping my hand on it when it was in third.
