The bearing retainer on our '50 GMC (4-speed), that slides on the output
shaft and in which the throwout bearing rides has a hole apparently drilled
into its horizontal surface, just at the base of the flange that bolts to
the front of the trans housing. Is there supposed to be a hole there? The
trans shop it is at now says they see NO reason it should be there! It looks
like a factory original machined hole, about 5/8" or so. If it should be
there, what is it for?

Thanks!
