I had another idea for the rear on my 49. I was going to cut the bracket
from the old rear axle and weld it onto an axle I got out of a 74 Monte
Carlo. The Monte had coil spring perches that I ground off. The Monte also
had "ears" on the top of the diff for control arms. I was going to use the
control arms to control the roll of the rear end. The torque tube rear end
setup pivots on the brackets that sit on top of the spring and by using
the control arms from the Monte, I can control the forward roll of the rear
end. I may make this adjustable so I can find tune the pinion angle. Any
thoughts on my hair-brained idea?

I've been kicking around ideas for the rear suspension on my
52
Chevy 1/2 ton. 4 link, parallel leaves, or a 3/4 elliptic setup?
I really like the 3/4 elliptic idea but I don't know what
springs to
use. I believe I'll have to use a 1.5 or 2 ton spring but I'm not sure.
I've
seen this used on old Toyota FJ40 Land Cruisers as well as track-t's.
It seems like this setup along with my MII front suspension
should
give me a nice riding and good handling truck.
Any one used this setup or familiar with it?
