Hello, Bart.

As you probably already know, the Chevrolet Luv was/is
manufactured by Isuzu (relationship: 
http://www.hierarchies.org/entity/219).

The truck became the s10 in the U.S. (anywhere else?)
while retaining the "Luv" moniker elsewhere in the
world.

I really don't know about the s9 designation, but I
bet that you are on the right track.  I have seen many
Luvs here in the States that have been customized with
stepside beds (using full size truck fenders).

(Of similar interest, the Ford Courier was
manufactured by Mazda --
