Here is some info that might help the guy.  

  Bellhousing for GM T-5 Transmission  

The stock bellhousing can be used for both GM and Ford T-5 applications
but with GM F-body T5 transmission you can also use a bellhousing from a
pre-1983 GM manual transmission..  Most any pre-83 GM big or small
block Bellhousing should work.  The early bellhousings are made of
cast iron or aluminum. To save weight, you are better off with aluminum.  
  By using an early bellhousing the shifter will stick straight up and
not angled towards the side.
