We used plastic pipe for the compressed air plumbing in our new building.
The pipe was supplied by Plastic Piping Sestems of Maryland (410-381-0800
fax 410-381-6350), but I would expect there are other suppliers. The
plastic is somewhat more expensive than the steel, iron, copper or galvanized
pipe. Installation and maintenance are much less. The pipe goes together
like PVC - hacksaw it and glue together. We plumbed the perimeter of 6000
square feet and had no leaks. Everyone we talked to advised against regular
plastic pipe, which will shatter under impact.
