Heater Tube Replacement

I recently replaced carb on 1981 F-150 pickup and discovered that heater 
tube going to carb was bad. I was told that I need to drill the old plug out 
of the manifold and replace with plug that came with generic replacement 
kit. Has anyone had any experience with this or suggestions? Thanks!
