fiberglass panel bonding adhesive

I'm putting fiberglass fender flares on a 71 Corvette and am wondering if
anyone has tried a construction type adhesive for this use rather than the
two part (expensive) automotive use bonding adhesives.  DAP has a product
called Better than Nails that says it works for fibergalss and is for
outdoor use.

Any experience out there?
