Basically, you are correct. The amount of sand depends on the size of
the system you purchase. The more money you spend the more sand it will
hold!
The one I've been using holds about 50# of sand. I've had good luck with
recycling it also. I'll admit that it is a pain to sweep it up and
sift it to get the junk out but, I'm cheap!!!!
