You raise an important point. I have a one HP 3phase motor running a
Bridgeport Mill. I used a solid state Phase convertor (rated at
1-3HP) -but, found that the motor ran "hot". I needed to replace the
motor. The ineficiency of the solid state unit precluded the motors'
running well. I now have a rotatory convertor (more money) but more
efficient.
