Sears is usually pretty good about getting parts for older items, like my 20
year old mower and 45 year old clothes dryer.  Try getting all the numbers
you can find off the mower, and going into one of their "Parts Depots".  The
older records are not computerized, typically on microfiche, but they can
usually help.

Indeed I do, fondly.  Problem is, modern electronics are not conducive to
hand assembly.  It literally costs more to buy leaded components, than to
assemble the thing using surface mount.  And there just weren't enough
people fanatical enough to pay more for a kit than for an assembled product
...
