A few big advantages of a sawzall:

You can easily take it to the work.

There are a large variety of blades, from plaster to wood to metal, and 
in many lengths

The blades are flexible, so they (1) don't break easily, and (2) you 
can cut a pipe or bolt off flush with the floor.

The do not, however, lend themselves to production work. They are quick 
& dirty.
