I have had a Grizzly model for at least 12 years. The only problem I had
with it was I walked away from it with the motor running somehow and it ran
all night and burned up. No thermal protection in the stock motor; it
really stunk. I replaced it with a cheap 1/2 HP motor from H.F. and it
works fine. I agree with all the other comments, with the following
additional comment:
Someone mentioned out of square cuts. I found if you put flat stock (like
a piece 1/4" thick by 2" wide) in the vise to cut across the edge or short
side the cut will wander off square. I haven't been bothered enough by
this to try to fix it; the work-around is to cut stock across the long or
flat dimension. On angle iron, I cut it in two steps, cutting across the
flats instead of down one side and across the other. Hope this makes
sense. I have also done a fair amount of free hand cutting on up to 1/4"
or so, which works fine within the radius limits of the blade. I am
currently trying a couple of cheap H.F. blades. They work ok at about 1/4
the price of the bimetal blades, but only OK.
