you kknow what? the past couple of days have made me glad to be an LBC
owner. i don't think i could be as happy with any other car. as a matter
of fact i know i wouldn't be as happy with another car (when i bought my
spit, my daily driver was a 1990 ford tempo. although the car was a tank,
i was working on it more than on my spit!).
any way, i drove my car to school the past three days (a 60 mile hike
round trip), and on each day i got complements from from almost everyone.
the best, and i think the most creative, complement was left waiting for
me when i got back from class. because the sun has been shining for the
last week, there are quite a few dandi-lions(spell?) in the grass. well,
when i got back to my spit, i noticed that someone spelled out "nice car"
in the flowers on the bonnet. that made me smile BIG.
and just last night, i was able to introduce some young kids to the
'triumph' name. i went to the local pub to have some brews with a buddy.
when i pulled into the parking lot, i noticed that next door there was a
bunch of kids gawking at my spit. as i climbed out of the car they ran
over to get a closer look. i don't think it's anything to get that much
attention over (the paint is faded, and i painted some white racing
stripes just to make it flashy), so i ask them how it's going. one of
them immeadiatly asks what kind of car it is. i tell them that it's a
triumph. he says it looked like an old porsche. so i tell him that
triumphs were made in britain and porsches were made in germany. he then
associates it with 'austin powers.' that's when i say to myself, close
enough, and go have a beer.
it makes me happy though, knowing that i was able to introduce the triumph
mark to a growing boys mind. perhaps he'll even start looking for more on
the road and aspire to own one...
